Drywall Sheet Estimating Basics
Estimate wall and optional ceiling area, then convert to common sheet sizes.
Measure walls
Use total wall length times height, or room perimeter times height.
Add ceiling if needed
Ceiling area is length times width.
Select sheet size
Larger sheets reduce seams but can be harder to handle.
Plan openings carefully
Small openings may not reduce purchasing because offcuts are still needed.
Verify code and assembly
Fire, moisture, acoustic and structural requirements affect board type and layers.
