Planning reference: verify all dimensions, loads, fasteners, joinery and tool procedures for your actual materials and application before building.
Why build it
Small projects are excellent for using offcuts and building confidence. Birdhouse dimensions should ultimately be adapted to the bird species and local guidance for your area.
Materials
- Untreated exterior-suitable wood
- Exterior fasteners
- Optional exterior finish on outside surfaces only
- Mounting hardware
Starter cut list

- Lay out the entrance and ventilation or drainage details before assembly.
- Cut panels and test the roof fit.
- Assemble without exposing birds to unsafe interior coatings or sharp fasteners.
- Mount in a suitable location and clean the house between nesting seasons when appropriate.
